HomeWelcome Fellow RC PilotsOct 29, 2008
Well today I got to be a part of a great adventure. Hopefully all of you have heard of "Wings Across America - 2008", if not, hopefully by the end of the week, you will be able to follow along for the rest of the adventure.

WAA-08 was started by Frank G in Virginia. He wanted to see if he could get a plane, handed off from pilot to pilot personally, flown in all of the lower 48 states. Well, it's taken a little longer then I think he planned on, but it's on the downhill run back to Virginia now.

I signed up to be a part of this I believe in early 2009, and after 320 other 'official' pilots, I picked up the sQuirt in it's beautiful travel case today (12-11-11) from Rich, who is a fellow RC pilot from Riverton. We met in Casper at the RC field, but it was to windy to even get it out there (imagine that). See the photos in that section of the page. I had to pick a day to take off for vacation in advance, so I chose Wednesday the 14th. Wouldn't you know it, calm the days before and after, but gusts to 45mph on Wed. I met with John S, Tom B and Chris as well as Carrie from the Sheridan Press. Needless to say we looked at the plane and box in the club house and took a few pictures. Carrie did a nice front page article on us even though we didn't get to fly. With the Holidays and everything we all discussed it (Frank and Paul) and decided I should keep it till I could get 'My' flight in. Well that day happened on the 20th. I went out on the 19th and shoveled snow for 3 hours to make a place large enough to land in. Coulter and his mom along with my wife got the plane out and did all of the checks. Instead of a hand launch I decided to try to take it off and it was pretty uneventful. Had a nice flight and flew until the batteries started to drop enough to notice it. We drove to the Powder River rest stop on I-90 on the 27th and handed the sQuirt over to Paul from Gillette with the Sagehoppers RC Club. Paul and the guys will now wait out the weather (WIND) to get their day in now. I now get to sit back and watch "The Rest of the Story" unfold on the forums.

You will also find links at the bottom to a couple of the RC forums that have been following this for years now.

Blog EntryRC Field Coordinates File and DiscussionDec 16, 2008
This is a file I've developed/created on my own over about the past 10 years.  I have spent countless hours finding and verifying through GIS programs, Sat Imagery, and via e-mail finding the coordinates of the center of the RC Club's actual... more

Another one of my favorite sources for anything RC. As the name implies, it's oriented more towards the Giant Scale side of our sport
